two new friends
no real news. It snowed yesterday. US defeated Poland 1-0 in another tune up for this June/July. We’re going to visit the sibs tonight.

Although there’s no action here lately, I have been remiss in not sharing some of our trip to PA two weeks ago. So here goes. We drove down after work Friday so that we could meet our new nieces Sara and Samantha. I recall Taylor showing us around the nursery room before the babies arrived. Two cribs, two quilts and two mobiles. Cute Noah’s Ark stuff all around. A changing table with diapers neatly stacked beneath. The whole room was newly painted and felt like a perfect place for the babies to be brought home to. I also got the distinct impression of this being the calm before the storm. It seemed a forgone conclusion that once the room was being used as intended…well…that all hell would break loose.

What we found when visiting the newly augmented family is that things are very much under control and life is proceeding as usual. Chris and Becky have things running like clockwork. A neat thing for us is that we got to feed and burp the young ladies which was fun. I don’t think I’ve ever fed my nephew Duncan and have maybe been involved with feeding Fiona once. So to feed a bottle to Samantha when she’s 3 weeks old was an enjoyable first for me.

I know that it won’t always seem so effortless for them. The dynamic must change as the people involved do. But right now everything is going quite alright and I couldn’t be happier for Chris and Becky and Taylor and the girls.

We brought home with us a case of A-Treat soda (Black Cherry) and boxes of Tastykakes thanks to Chris and Becky. It was ostensibly a birthday gift for me, but more likely a bit of sugary propaganda to make sure that we continue to visit on a regular basis.

We also got to sneak in a visit with J-Z and his family which was nice. We dropped off some sausage, Maureen made Kellen cry and I passed along my kitchen aid grinder/stuffer attachment to Jason. This was partially because I don’t use it anymore and Jason had expressed interest, and partially as payback for Jason passing along to me one of his addictions which I now share. So before long we’ll be moved in together sending support payments to our wives, and subsisting on home made meat products and computer games.
Comments:
What a nice post, Mark. However, I would like to ask Jason and Kristen for clarification on wheter or not I made Kellen cry or if my absence made hime cry. Since, I was not in the room, I'm really not sure which is correct. J&K, please help!

He cried when you left the room. Because you left the room. Ergo, you made him cry. I've forgiven you, but I'm not sure if he has.

Was great to see you both - and thanks for the meat grinder!
