thanks to Mike
there is the rare gift that not only provides immediate enjoyment, but serves to engender an entirely new hobby or interest in your life. My brother Mike lending me
Towing Jehovah was just such a gift. In short, I think Morrow's writing is brilliant, and following Towing Jehovah, I've enjoyed seeking out and reading all of Morrow's work as well as purchasing and receiving as gifts a few 1st Editions of his novels, which I cherish.
And now, with help from a gift card Mike gave me for Christmas, I've got my hands on Morrow's newest novel,
The Last Witchfinder. After 9 years and two publishers, Morrow's book was finally released on March 15th. It was with
great pleasure that I found his newest work in the fiction/literature section of the bookstore, rather than in the science fiction section. Morrow has found a good home in the Sci-Fi community and his early work was often carried along by a sci-fi plot. But beginning with
Only Begotten Daughter and later the Godhead Trilogy, Morrow's stirling satire has deserved to sit on a shelf much closer to
A Modest Proposal than to
Elfstones of Shannara.
I'm happy that it's a fairly thick book which means I'll have some time to savor it, all thanks to Mike.
belly check
I hope this blog isn't breaking the news for anybody and you already know that Reen is in a delicate condition. Lately we've been enjoying the gradual bulge of the belly.
MAKdaddy family
we were down to visit the Crossetts this weekend which was great. We got to meet
Alaina for the first time which was fun. I think Reen and I see a lot of ourselves in Matt and Kristen and so it is encouraging to see what great parents they are. I guess we'll have a fighting shot when it's our turn.
Sunday saw us out and visiting a local botanical garden which was lovely. And just to
keep up with Jason, here are some pictures.
and now...
...it's snowing outside. Oh this wacky New England Weather!!
back to the beach
